And the 4th has passed

This weekend was Fabulous! Food, sweets, family, kids, fun! Summery dresses, sunny days, followed by evenings that were cooled by a summer rain. I absolutely enjoyed my holiday weekend. Friday was spent with my Memphis family and this year my fiance joined us. That night wetook the kids to see the fireworks downtown. They were in awe being that this was their first time. Kayden, Kirsten, and Halei. I felt all happy inside seeing the look of wonder and amazement on their faces. Seeing the fireworks reminded me of my mama. We never celebrated an Independednce Day without finishing the night with the downtown fireworks. Me, her, and my sister. It was a Mitchell girls tradition.
Saturday was spent with my family in Mississippi. (Grandma and Ma's side) and I must say, I enjoyed myself. It was really nice seeing my aunts, uncles, and cousins that I really hadn't saw since a few years after my mom died.
Sunday,my other sister Shay and her family came down from Chicago to celebrate my niece's (Kennedy) fifth birthday at a waterpark in Collierville. I am thinking that maybe I had more fun than the kids.
In between the parties I had events to attend and meetings to go to. New ideas have to be presented for work, and I have yet to begun to brainstorm. I have had some creative thoughts here and there but nothing major.
I have been in LOVE with bright colors for the summer. The past two weeks my toes and the tips of my nails were yellow. Thursday I got a mani and pedi, followed by a splash of bright orande on my nails and toes. On the fourth I wore a bright yellow dress that I received so many compliments on. So I had to let these people know that I found the dress at Rue 21 for FIVE dollars.
Here are some of the brights I have been wearing out for the summer.

And this dress, I do not have, but it has caught my eye at Wet Seal.

Hope all of my readers, and all my vixens enjoy your week!

Like a day at the beach

Just looking at the Tahitian Holiday Collection from Avon, makes me want to go on a tropical vacation. I most definitely will be purchasing the hair mist when I submit my Avon orders today. It is actually a leave in treatment that moisturizes, protects, and conditions the hair. I smelled a sample and it made me want to jump in the pool for a refreshing swim. A breezy fragrance with a light touch of coconut. Perfect for a day at the beach, chilling poolside with your man, or a steamy night out to an exotic place. Sexy ain't it!

With the purchase of a Tahitian Holiday product you recieve the Tahitian Clutch Purse for just $5.99. And I think that is fab as well.

If you want anything from this collection, let me know. I will have my Avon website running by the end of the week. This way my customers can easily go online and purchase whatever they want while supporting my sales. Thanks to my customers for supporting me!

Fushion Pictures

We had a Blast!

"Lady Hustlers"HEy Yall! We had so much fun at the Soul Mix Concsrt. The performers were wonderful. We had a skit, singers (my best friend Tina did a song acapella, BEAUTIFUL!), poets, dancers, and rappers to get on stage and entertain us with what they do best. I must say I was more than impressed. Everyone did a really good job!

I know, I know, I promised pictures. I do not own a digital camera and was relying on a friend of mines to show up with her camera. She had a lot going on and was unable to show up, so I apologize for not providing the promised photos.

At the end of the show we had a lip singing contest. All the males in the audience who wanted to participate against the female participants. We Vixens performed freakum dress, and I got to be Beyonce. Of course, the ladies won the title, and the men lost ownership of the belt! Yay!

The Fushion Fashion show was a hit! A nice crowd showed up and the place was packed (we almost ran out of seats). The show featured a variety of designers and artists from the Memphis area. Maybe I can get my photographer friend to send me some pictures. I was working the event as a hostess and networked my ass off. SO I recieved an offer to join a modeling agency, and an offer to do an upcoming show. I also spoke with a really nice guy about helping to promote and market his business.

That night the "Lady Hustlers", Hostesses and models for the Stone Awards attended a promotional party set up by Cam (House of Mtenzi) for the Stone Awards at EP's club and restaurant on Beale St. WE got on stage, danced, talked with the crowd and had giveaways which included info about the Stone Awards, and a Legal Hustler, or Lady Hustler T shirt, or tank top. (Legal Hustlers is the organization that sponsors the Stone Awards by providing the shirts that the ladies wear for our promotional events.) For the giveaways, club comers had get on stage and participate in danceoffs. HILARIOUS! Them folks was gettin it! By

More promotional events are coming up so I will keep you posted.
Thanks to my readers who showed up at the Fashion Show. I appreciate your support!
By 1:00am I was tired and my feet hurt from being in heels all day for 3 days str8, and every since 10:00 that morning. So for me, it was an early night.

June's Fab ViXen!

June's Fab Vixen is Lacarrious Thomas, the beauty and brains behind "Nikki T's Designs." Ms. Thomas is from Memphis, Tn and is fulfilling her desires for a career in fashion. Want to know how she got started, and how she's doing it? Lets hear what fabulous things she had to say.

What makes you a Fab Vixen? I feel my will to hold tight to the assurance that I can do anything makes me fab. I think that if you are confident even when you are unsure of what you are doing or where you are going in life that confidence will carry you through whatever may come against you. Confidence not pride. I think people get the two confused and that leads to trouble.

What does your life consist of at the moment? God, family, and trying to get my online boutique up and going is my main focus in right now.

When did you first become interested in Fashion? I have always been into fashion. I can remember being like 14 and taking at least 2 hours sometimes to put together the perfect outfit. It wasn't to impress anyone, I guess it was just that passion coming through. I always got enjoyment out of putting different pieces together to get a look that on one else was wearing. I also starting modeling while I was in high school and that was just like throwing gas on fire.

What projects have you currently worked on? Are you working on any as of now? The most recent project that I took part in was Rip the Runway 2 at the U of M. I was in charge of getting sponsors for the show. We choose local boutiques and designers from the U of M and allowed them to showcase their different styles and takes on fashion.

What are your plans for the future concerning fashion, and a career? Right now I'm focused on learning about the the marketing, distribution, and buyers point of view of the fashion industry. I'm working on a fashion show for my fall collection where a portion of the profits will go to help families of children with terminal illnesses. I would really like to get a family from St. Jude or Porter Leah, so if anyone is connected to either of those organization please contact me.

Could you provide some tips, or advice for other Vixens who are pursuing fashion, merchandising, and design? Keep pushing. If you really feel passion for this industry and when you first break in you don't find success keep trying. I wanted to be this great runway model, but my 5'5 height was not what the industry wanted. I didn't stop modeling I just thought of other ways to be in the industry while remaning on the runway, and my fashions will be seen on local and international runways soon thanks to that drive and passion that I never gave up on. Anyone can do something of great levels and triumph in life, its just up to you to keep the fire burning on that dream. Remeber you are a partner in your own miracles and destiny- God provides the power, and you provide the faith. Also don't try to change the market that you are in. I have seen alot of people try to throw a New York, Milan, or L.A. style on a runway and try to sell it here in Memphis and it didn't work. People have different styles in each city that is unique to that city, and if you try to make people conform to your style that you are bringing from the outside they will boot you out. It's kind of like telling them you don't have style so dress like the people in New York cause they are fab and you are not. You can bring something new to a certain areas fashion industry , but it can still be their style just modified.
Hope I wasn't to long winded.
You most definitely was not, and I believe you had some really motivational things to say, and some insightful information was provided. Faith, Motivation, and Determination is necessary to be successful in anything a person wants to do.

Here are a few designs from Nikki T's Designs. The pieces are flirty and floral, cool, comfortable, and fabulous for the summer.I love the sheer lightweight fabrics she uses which are perfect for those hot summer days. Even though it is hot outside we Vixens still want to look "hot" in that sexy, hot, classy, type of way. Her desogns are perfect for just that.

OOOH! I want.

These are gorgeous! Tropical Threaded Earrings from LULUS for just $10.00. We need a Lulus store in Memphis. And an H&M. If I'm not mistaken I believe an H&M is coming soon. I'm more of a "go to the" store, mall, boutique, and shop kinda Vixen. But I absolutely adore these earrings! Might have to step outside the box and place an order. AND if I do an email signup I get a $5.00 gift code. Spend more than $75.00 and shipping is free. I wasn't planning on spending that much tho. Of course, I now have a budget to stick to. Like em?
